In this article, the substitute judge of the High Court of Justice of the Principality of Asturias encourages a deep and serene reflection on the complex challenges faced by the courts upon assessing the testimony of children under 14 years old in the criminal process. The author examines with rigour how the use of the Gesell Chamber, an instrumented aimed at preventing secondary revictimisation, introduces significant difficulties in the legal control of the questioning, as this stays in the hands of psychologists and social workers, without direct intervention from the judge.
